A couple months ago, very soon after I moved here, I signed up for a sewing class -- I wanted to learn how to draft my own patterns, sew clothing that I could actually wear, and make sure that I actually saw and spoke to other humans at least once a week. And then when the first class was over, I signed up for another one, and this is the result. Fully lined, invisible zipper, boning, in-seam pockets. It even fits! I must be some kind of insane for insisting on hemming this thing on Sunday afternoon, when it was precisely 100.1 degrees outside, and approximately 90 degrees inside my apartment. And I actually got out an iron. Ridiculous. I put on the dress just to take a picture of it, tried to be quick to protect it from my sweaty state. That is why I look like I look a little haggard in this photo. It was the best I could do.
